ACT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, serving the East Valley including southeast Phoenix, Tempe, and Chandler.
Our theatre space in Ahwatukee has four private practice/teaching rooms, a drama room, a dance studio, an 85-seat black box theatre, as well as a prop and costume shop.
Our performing groups include: Ahwatukee Select Show Choir - competition show choir; Treble Makers - beginning show choir; Tukee Tweens - intermediate performing group; and ACT 1 Show Choir - beginning performing group.
Some of our classes are: Acting 101, Acting 102, Musical Theatre, Straight Plays, Family Musical Theatre, Grade-appropriate Musical Theatre for ages K - adult, Acting for Camera and Film, Private Voice Instruction, and Musical Dance Instruction.
We are thrilled that we provide Southeast Valley residents a local performing arts center. ACT provides a safe and educational facility for children to gain exposure to the arts, build self- confidence, and experience understanding and acceptance of cultural diversity. It is ACT's belief that involvement by children in safe, productive, healthy activities helps to create more constructive citizens for their communities.
Some of the shows we've done include: A Christmas Carol (2001-09), Aladdin, Jr., Annie Jr., Beauty and the Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, Cinderella, Disney's 101 Dalmatians, Disney's High School Musical, Footloose, Grease - The School Version, Honk Jr., Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Music Man, Jr., The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Narnia - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Olivia, Really Rosie, Rent - High School Edition, School House Rock, School House Rock, Seussical, Willy Wonka, Jr., and The Wizard of OZ.
Community Outreach
Our ACTOUT program reaches out to those in our neighboring communities with full-scale productions directed by our staff, and rehearsed and performed within their community at no cost. Some of these groups include community centers and charter schools. |
